The application process for SNAP benefits (food stamps) takes approximately one month. Once you complete and sign a food stamp application, it is turned in to the local office. The local office sends a letter to the applicant notifying the applicant of their interview time. During the interview, information on the application is reviewed with the applicant, and documentation confirming that information (things like paycheck stubs, IDs, birth certificates, utility bills, etc.) are submitted. The applicant is informed whether or not they qualify once all required documentation is submitted and the interview is completed.
