Benefits to the Community
Participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program increases the purchasing power of low-income community residents and thereby contributes to the local economy. In addition, the federal government pays the full cost of SNAP (Food Stamp) benefits and half of each state’s administrative costs associated with the program such as salaries and office space.
Our Social Services Outreach Coordinator is available to be at Brazos Valley Food Bank partner agency sites and other community sites to help individuals and families fill out applications and recertifications, as well as answer questions for food stamps and other assistance programs such as Medicaid, TANF and the Women’s Health Program. The Outreach Coordinator will even turn in applications for clients at the Food Stamp Office.
