Family Boxes

Family Boxes

In 2006, food from the Brazos Valley Food Bank reached over 10,000 households through our partner agencies – pantries, residential facilities, recreation centers, etc.

Sixty-two percent (62%) of the households were female-headed.

Forty percent (40%) had at least one adult working.

The Brazos Valley Food Bank realizes families are unique and have unique needs.

Some parents work days, some work nights and some work weekends.

Some do not have transportation or money to pay for the transportation.

Some simply do not know who can help them.

For these reasons and others, not all of our hungry neighbors can access

food pantries when they are open.

In realizing these unique needs, the Brazos Valley Food Bank keeps

Family Boxes on hand.  Family Boxes contain 16 nutritionally balanced items that can assist a family get through a crisis.

Families are referred to the Brazos Valley Food Bank as a last resort from

2-1-1 Call for Help and from other social service agencies.  Some just show up.

Families who receive Family Boxes are always given 2-1-1 information cards, as well as a handout that list all of the available pantries and their hours of operation.
